A few notes from Monday’s football practice session:

Freshman tailback Broderick Green, who is redshirting this season thanks to undergoing foot surgery earlier this fall, suffered a setback when that same foot began bothering him again during Monday’s practice. He will be evaluated today.

Thursday notes: Booty gets the start

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Pete Carroll named John David Booty the starting quarterback for Saturday’s game against Oregon State, an unsurprising announcement given that Booty’s fractured finger had healed enough for him to take most of the first-team snaps in practice this week.

OG Chilo Rachal was given the day off to rest his sore calf, which tightened up on […]

Wednesday practice/injury notes: Doctors advise Baker not to play

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Doctors advised All-American left-tackle Sam Baker not to play Saturday against Oregon State after examining his partially torn hamstring. Even though it’s the larger part of his hamstring which is torn, making him less susceptible to suffering a full tear upon returning, and despite having received a second anti-inflammatory shot on Monday, Pete Carroll said […]

Quarterback controversy? Not according to USC’s coaching staff. Pete Carroll reiterated in his weekly press conference on Tuesday that, without question, if John David Booty proves he’s fully recovered from his finger injury this week in practice, he will replace Mark Sanchez as the starting quarterback on Saturday. Tuesday notes: Still no QB decision

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Former USC wideout Johnnie Morton was in attendance as the Trojans spent another day under smoke-filled skies preparing for Saturday’s matchup of top-ten teams in Oregon. Nothing changed on the quarterback front, meaning that (a) no decision was made about the starter, and (b) it still looks like it’s Mark Sanchez’s job for now. Here […]
