Top-ranked USC had no problem disposing of Pac-10 rivals Stanford on Saturday in Los Angeles, winning as expected in dominating fashion. Of course, that was in water polo. (Congrats to the Trojans for a strong 7-2 victory over the third-ranked Cardinal.) Football was another story, as the unranked Cardinal, who entered the Coliseum as 40-point […]

If you’re looking for compelling storylines to possibly come out of today’s Stanford game, and you’re not foaming at the mouth to put Jim Harbaugh in his place for predicting Pete Carroll’s end-of-the-season departure, consider that we might be in store for the coming out party of two exciting USC freshmen. Joe McKnight will likely get […]

So that’s why David Buehler’s kickoffs have been so short: he suffered a strained right quadriceps during fall camp as a result of “overkicking.” Rivals reports that the condition has actually worsened during the season, and probably will not improve without rest–which, of course, won’t happen until the end of the regular season. His condition […]

RB Stafon Johnson has not practiced at all this week, and according to most published reports, he will likely not play Saturday against Stanford to let his bruised foot heal properly. Assuming Johnson won’t play, and with the news that C.J. Gable has opted for season-ending surgery to repair a sports hernia, the Trojan coaches […]

A day that saw Trojan coach Pete Carroll continue to make fun of some of Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh’s pre-season assertions (such as his prediction that Carroll would leave USC after this year)–and which also saw alumn Matt Leinart on campus to chat with his replacement, John David Booty–also had some more serious news on […]

The Cardinal will start Tavita Pritchard in his place. At a press conference today, Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh had this to say about Pritchard:
“[He] […]

Entering fall practice, the USC offense had two primary deep threats at wide receiver: Jamere Holland, who decided to transfer to Oregon, and sophomore Travon Patterson, who sustained a broken bone in his big toe during training camp and who, we learned Monday, will undergo surgery and miss the entire 2007 season. He will apply […]

The second-ranked Trojans (4-0, 2-0) will look to rebound from a poor (but victorious) performance against Washington by hosting the Stanford Cardinal (1-3, 0-3) at the Coliseum on Saturday. The Cardinal, guided by first-year coach Jim Harbaugh, have been defeated by all three ranked teams they have faced this season, beating only the San Jose […]

C Kris O’Dowd will likely be out two to three weeks with a dislocated kneecap. An MRI revealed that OG Chilo Rachal sprained the medial collateral ligament in his knee which could force him out of the Stanford game and possibly more. Alatini Malu, Zack Heberer and Thomas Herring will vie for Rachal’s starting spot, while […]
