Game Preview: (25) USC vs. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

The 25th-ranked Trojans (7-3) host the Big West Conference’s Cal Poly Mustangs (5-5) at the Galen Center at 5:00p tonight.

The matchup
In the only previous meeting between the two schools, USC lost in 2003 at the Sports Arena, 93-78. The well-rested Mustangs have not played since defeating CS Bakersfield one week ago. They lost to the only other Pac-10 team they’ve faced this season, falling to Arizona State, 75-41, last month (much like the Sun Devils easily defeated the Trojans’ last opponent, Delaware State). Cal Poly does not have a single player averaging double figures in points, as the team’s scoring load is spread fairly evenly among their top seven players. Leading that group is junior guard Trae Clark, at 9.9 points per game.

USC is coming off one of its best offensive performances of the season, shooting over 68% in a dominating victory over Delaware State at home last Monday. On the season, the Trojans are following last year’s model and limiting opponents to just 38.8 percent shooting from the field.

Injury report
The Trojans are, for the most part, healthy, with only F Kasey Cunningham out for the season with a torn ACL. Cunningham is expected to undergo surgery in the next few weeks.

TV/radio
Tonight’s game is not televised, although it can be viewed live online through Trojan TV All-Access for a fee. Live radio coverage can be heard on 710AM.
