2008 schedule changes; location of games still undecided

The Trojans have shifted the dates of a few of its football games on its 2008 schedule to accommodate television:

  • USC’s road game at Oregon State has been moved from 9/27 to 9/25 (a Thursday)
  • USC’s home game against Oregon has been moved from 11/22 to 10/4

Moving the Ducks game helps correct the Trojans’ unbalanced 2008 schedule, which was originally loaded with bye weeks at the beginning of the year. (That Thursday game will not pose a problem, as USC has a bye the previous week.)

Exactly where USC will play its home games is, of course, still up in the air. However, the Coliseum Commission announced Wednesday that it would present the school with a new lease proposal today. This latest development (which is significant) is the result of a special closed-door meeting held by the commission last night. The Daily News reports that the new lease proposal will not give USC control over the facility, as the school had been requesting, but would bar an NFL team from playing at the Coliseum and would fund renovations to the stadium by selling naming rights.
