Ellis is Pac-10 defensive player of the year
Trojan senior defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis was announced as the Pac-10’s defensive player of the year on Monday, and is one of a Pac-10 high eight Trojans named to the all-conference first team as selected by the conference’s head coaches. Ellis finished the regular season with 56 tackles, including 12.5 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks, despite being regularly double-teamed.
The other seven Trojans named to the Pac-10 All Conference Team are: TE Fred Davis, OL Sam Baker, OL Chilo Rachal, DL Lawrence Jackson, LB Keith Rivers, LB Rey Maualuga, and S Kevin Ellison. In addition, CB Terrell Thomas was voted onto the second team list.
Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon was named the offensive player of the year, while Washington QB Jake Locker was selected freshman of the year and first-year ASU head coach Dennis Erickson earned coach of the year honors.
