More reaction to potential Rose Bowl move
So, if it’s Rivalry Week, the buzz in town must be about the USC-UCLA football game, right? Well, while some people are actually looking forward to Saturday’s contest, more are still talking about USC’s announcement that they will explore a move to the Rose Bowl for the next two seasons.
Even USC is still talking about it. Athletic Director Mike Garrett emailed an open letter to season ticket holders explaining the school’s position, including an itemized list of the renovations needed at the Coliseum. He also requests that concerned fans contact the Coliseum Commission directly, and provides contact information for the commissioners.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa even weighed in on the issue, suggesting that he backs USC’s position and indicating that he does not foresee the NFL ever returning to the Coliseum.

The Los Angeles Times’ architecture critic also puts in his two cents, stating that while USC shouldn’t be given complete control over the venue, allowing the Trojans to leave the stadium would quickly render it irrelevant.

And USC blog Conquest Chronicles reports that USC students are attempting to organize a boycott of Coliseum concession stands this Saturday, to provide the Commission a preview of life without income from USC games.
