USC guard Daniel Hackett was named Sporting News’ national men’s basketball player of the week for the period ending November 18. Hackett, who until early last week was unable to play or practice for a month while suffering from a broken jaw, returned to lead the Trojans to a pair of victories in the state of South Carolina, averaging 21.5 points, 6.5 assists, and 5.5 rebounds in the two games.
