Wolf’s sources: Jefferson suspended for 2 games
Scott Wolf is reporting that “multiple sources” told him that freshman forward Devon Jefferson has been suspended for 2 games for undisclosed but “team-related” reasons. If true, it’s unclear whether tonight’s Citadel game will be the first or second game of the suspension, but to this point, Jefferson has told reporters that the coaches didn’t play him against Mercer because he’s not familiar enough with the team’s plays due to his sitting out with injury. The two scenarios are obviously not mutually exclusive, but we’ll bring you more if an official announcement is made.
In other news, it seems increasingly likely that guard Daniel Hackett will make his season debut tonight after having sat against Mercer. Practices this week have seen a marked increase in intensity after the team admittedly took Mercer lightly. Hackett, famous for his intense play, should contribute to the team’s renewed intensity, especially on the defensive end.
