USC can’t crack BCS top ten, thanks to computers

Sunday’s new BCS standings have the Trojans ranked at #12, up just two spots from the previous week. Although the human components of the BCS have USC in the top ten, the computers have the Trojans as the 21st-best team in the nation. In fact, USC is the only top-15 BCS team not to be ranked #15 or higher by the computers. (Two of the six computers don’t even have the Trojans in the top 25.) Strength of schedule plays a big factor in the computer ratings, and that figures to improve for USC, as they play ranked teams in three out of the next four weeks.

Arizona State is the top-ranked Pac-10 team in the BCS, at #4. Ohio State and Boston College are #1 and #2, respectively.
