Baseball team gets institutionalized

Ground was broken today on a new million-dollar training facility for the USC baseball team, with the building given the lofty title of Rod Dedeaux Research for Baseball Institute. To be completed by the end of the year, the RDRBI will provide the team with new batting cages, replacing the existing cages on the third-base side of Dedeaux Field. Why is it a research institute? The USC Medical School will also use the facility to research sports injuries and prevention, and a high-definition camera system will also be installed at the stadium as part of a new cutting-edge, three-dimensional player analysis system. It sounds like something the game developers at EA Sports would love.
