Rivals previews USC basketball
In its ongoing rundown of the top 64 teams in the country, Rivals has posted a profile of USC’s men’s basketball team–which the service has ranked at #9 in the nation. Rivals projects a starting lineup of guards OJ Mayo and Angelo Johnson, swingman Dwight Lewis, and forwards Davon Jefferson and Taj Gibson, which seams reasonable, although we would expect Daniel Hackett to replace Johnson in the backcourt once his broken jaw is healed. Rivals’ prediction for USC:
“The backcourt lacks depth, but the Trojans will make a legit run at the Final Four if Mayo stays healthy.”

I have new respect for Rivals. As I’ve stated before, I think this Trojans hoops team is a legit Top 10 team - talent wise. And the core of the team - Mayo, Gibson, and Hackett - have shown they can do it under pressure. And let’s face it, every good college team with premiere talent is young.
