It is too bad that C.J. has this lingering injury b/c he was playing really well - he was showing a lot more explosion, quickness and moves than what we saw from him in games he played last year. The silver lining - imagine how C.J. could be when he is fully healthy. If C.J. does go out for the season means losing 1 of 3 homerun threats in the running game - leaving Johnson and McKnight. However, the remaining group is still phenomenal. I hear you Marc - re: recruiting, but I would rather have SC continue to stock pile the talent, if they are available. Why not. As evidenced this year and last, any player is one play away from seeing the field and the expectation (certainly, of alums and fans like me) is that such player is as good if not better than the player replaced.

Wolf is reporting that Gable will, in fact, have the surgery as soon as this week and will redshirt. Probably the best situation for him and the team. That leaves the Trojans with (1) Chancey (1a) Stafon (3) Bradford (4) McKnight (5) Dennis and (6) Reed. Not a bad group. Going into next year, it will likely be (1) Stafon, (2) Gable, (3) McKnight, (4) Tyler (4a) Bradford (4b) Broderick Green. I sure hope the Trojans don't sign another high profile 4 or 5-star back in this incoming 2008 class. (Or a quarterback for that matter - hold out for Barkley in the next class). Doing so would be overkill.
