Trojans fall to #2 in AP poll
AP voters expressed their disapproval of USC’s performance in a lackluster 27-24 victory over the Washington Huskies on Saturday night, dropping the Trojans to #2 in the latest college football rankings for the first time this season. USC held on to its top ranking in the USA Today coaches’ poll and the Harris Interactive rankings, but LSU is the media’s new #1 team, leading the Trojans by just two points after trailing them by 21 last week. LSU received 33 first-place votes (to the Trojans’ 32) in the AP poll, while USC picked up 45 of 60 first-place votes in the USA Today poll and 76 of 112 in the Harris.
An upset-filled Saturday created a lot of movement–and left numerous disparities–in the three polls. As far as USC’s future opponents go, the Cal Bears rose to #3 in all three polls after beating Oregon Saturday. The Ducks fell from #11 to #14 in the AP poll, but are at #13 in the other two rankings. An undefeated Arizona State squad is at #18 in the AP poll and #19 in the USA Today and Harris polls, while UCLA squeaked back into the coaches’ rankings, sitting at #25 in the USA Today poll.
