Washington prepares for the “Beast” Sedrick Ellis
Bud Withers of the Seattle Times notes that even though his name isn’t as well-known nationally as other USC players, nose tackle Sedrick Ellis (tagged with the telling ”Beast” tattoo on his leg) might just be the best player on 2007 Trojan team. He describes Ellis’s dominant trait as his strength: “He has pushed up a team-best 510 in the bench press, and on USC’s pro day last spring, hoisted 225 a ridiculous 42 times.” Withers also cites likely first-round NFL pick Sam Baker who call Ellis, “Best D-lineman I’ve ever seen…I wouldn’t know how to prepare for him,” a bold statement coming from a guy who lined up against Sean Cody, Mike Patterson and other Trojan greats of the Carroll era.
