Looking ahead to Washington State
The top-ranked Trojans (2-0, 0-0) will open their conference football season on Saturday, hosting the unranked Washington State Cougars (2-1, 0-0) in an evening game at the Coliseum. The Cougars, led by experienced senior quarterback Alex Brink and his stellar numbers (73.6% completions, 947 yards, 10 touchdowns) have won two straight games after losing to Wisconsin in the opener. Last year’s matchup in Pullman saw USC barely survive a late scare (thanks to a last-second interception by Taylor Mays near the end zone), with the Trojans holding on for a 28-22 victory.
Here’s USC’s official injury report, as of Monday morning:
- PROBABLE: LB Clay Matthews (thumb)
- POSSIBLE: CB Vincent Joseph (larynx), FB Alfred Rowe (concussion), C Matt Spanos (triceps).
- OUT: S-CB Josh Pinkard (knee), OG-C Nick Howell (hernia), TB Broderick Green (foot), CB Kevin Thomas (shoulder), OT Martin Coleman (shoulder), DE Trey Henderson (knee), WR Damian Williams (shoulder).
The game will begin at 5:00p and be televised by ABC. It is not yet sold out, although it very well could be by the end of the week. The Trojans are favored by 24.5 points.
