Will Callahan reprise last year’s conservative approach?
Scott Wolf is reporting that Nebraska players were furious with last year’s conservative game plan against the Trojans in LA. This shouldn’t surprise anyone who watched the game. It became clear early in the contest that Nebraska had no confidence in its ability to win the game so it was going to make sure that it didn’t go the way of Arkansas and others who strove to actually beat SC and yet were blown out in the process. The result? One of the most boring, uncontested games on last year’s schedule. It was particularly disappointing to me, a lifelong fan of Nebraska football in general, and Tom Osbourne in particular. The notion of playing a team close for a moral victory was not part of his playbook.
