Carroll and “The Inner Game of Tennis”
Knowledgeable USC fans know that one of Pete Carroll’s favorite books, one which inspires his life and which he uses in subtle ways to teach his football players and shape his program, is W. Timothy Gallwey’s “The Inner Game of Tennis.” Reading it helped DE Lawrence Jackson snap out of his sack drought last season, and it’s generally “about clearing the clutter in the interactions between your conscious and subconscious mind.” Carroll discusses the book’s influence on him with Kurt Streeter of the LA Times.

Highly reccomend Inner Game of Tennis… read it and although some of the concepts are a little weird (Self 1 vs. Self 2)…. thought it was very insightful… I think the author has written other “Inner Games”, but seeing that the others haven’t really caught on… would stick to the original Tennis book
