Washington to miss Idaho game

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the injury sustained by senior running back Chauncey Washington in last night’s scrimmage was a sprained shoulder, and he will miss the Trojans’ opening game as a result. After enjoying a great fall camp, Washington–USC’s returning leading rusher–was on track to start against Idaho, but he will now sit out an estimated two weeks after X-rays today confirmed the sprain.

With Washington out, sophomore Stafon Johnson becomes the leading contender to start against Idaho, although if CJ Gable is able to get healthy in time (he’s missed some practices with a groin injury), he would be a possibility as well.

  1. I’ll take a backfield of Johnson, Bradford, McKnight, and Green if that’s what we have available for Idaho. Let Chauncey heal up for Nebraska. I’d be very happy with that. (BTW: word on the street is that Brod Gren will find out Friday if he’s eligible.)
