The Associated Press published its preseason Top 25 within the hour, and for the third time in the last four years, USC is its #1 team, garnering all but 3 of the poll’s 65 first place votes.  LSU (2 first place votes), West Virginia (1 first place vote), Texas, and Michigan round out the top 5.  2007 Trojan opponents in the poll are #12 Cal, #14 UCLA (#17 in the Coaches Poll), and #20 Nebraska.  Notably absent from the Top 25 is Notre Dame, which would be approximately #40 if the poll were extended beyond 25.
