Mark Saxon of the Orange Country Register profiles senior DT Sedrick Ellis, the USC defense’s leader on and off the field. Even though he’s only been lifting for six years, Ellis is one of only 3 players during the Carroll era to bench press over 500 pounds, but unlike many, he shows his power when it counts according to fellow defensive lineman Lawrence Jackson:

You can’t even imagine how strong he is in a game. It’s basically inhuman…I don’t see how guys give him the slightest challenge. You’ve got to respect the other guys’ technique, getting low and all that. It kind of counterbalances his strength, but sometimes he’ll just throw guys like a rag doll.
