Trojans lose two recruits to MLB

Trojan baseball recruits Mike Stanton and Mike Moustakas each agreed to contract terms with the teams that selected them in this year’s MLB draft, narrowly beating a midnight Wednesday deadline–which, if not met, would have seen the players attending USC in the fall. Stanton, an outfielder (who was also asked to play football at USC) from Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks), was selected in the second round by the Florida Marlins and will reportedly receive a $475,000 signing bonus. Power-hitting Chatsworth High School shortstop Moustakas, the second overall pick in the draft, signed with the Kansas City Royals just 11 minutes before the deadline. Terms of his deal were not immediately available.
