Video Interviews: Jeff Byers, Sed Ellis and Stafon Johnson

WeAreSC caught up with three returning Trojan players after Thursday and Friday’s practices.  Guard Jeff Byers, who is in the Marshall School’s MBA program after having graduated, says, “I feel great.  I haven’t felt this good in 2 1/2 years. Being able to play again is awesome. ” He adds that even though camp is always the same every year, it’s a great team bonding experience. “For the rookies it’s real tough - the coach throws you in there and expects you to perform - it’s a great way to learn.”

Senior nose tackle Sedrick Ellis tells WeAreSC that he leads by example, the way that his mentor Mike Patterson did, but the freshman are “catching on really fast.”

Sophomore RB Stafon Johnson, finally out from his freshman year doghouse, notes that “Camp’s been real good, real hard, and real competitive.” It’s not a consistent rotation among running backs, but “we all encourage each other.”
