Trojans may add another player… twice
For Notre Dame High (Sherman Oaks) athlete Mike Stanton, the choice is either USC or Florida. The Florida Marlins, that is. A second round pick in the recent MLB draft, Stanton has until Wednesday to sign with the Marlins. If he doesn’t, he will enroll at USC and play for Chad Kreuter’s Trojans.
However, because he will not be on scholarship, the two-sport star (and Cal-Hi Sports Athlete of the Year–a huge honor) will also be immediately eligible to play football, and Pete Carroll and staff see the 6′4″ Stanton as either a wide receiver or linebacker should he choose to play both sports. Interestingly, he also excelled at basketball at Notre Dame. Maybe he’ll have time to squeeze in a few games with OJ Mayo too.
