Wolf’s notes from first practice

Scott Wolf of the LA Daily News reports that transfer QB Mitch Mustain was frustrated and gave himself poor marks in his first official practice, noting “it wasn’t so much the physical stuff, I was accurate and had zip on the ball but my timing was off and there were too many mental errors.”

Freshman tailback Joe McKnight made several catches coming out of the backfield and displayed “fantastic hands” according to Pete Carroll. Carroll added,

He’s really smooth and has great fluid movement about him…We did a lot of stuff with him and he was all over the place. And we’ll continue to get a lot things thrown his way. He was very comfortable with it.

Soph RB Stafon Johnson also saw significantly more playing time, according to Wolf, who added that Chauncey Washington is down to a lean 216 pounds (from last year’s 240), while CJ Gable is tipping the scales at 205 pounds, up 15 pounds from 2006.
