Three freshmen not yet eligible

Scott Wolf is reporting that three freshmen–WR Brandon Carswell, RB Marc Tyler, and RB Broderick Green–have not yet been certified by the NCAA Clearinghouse. In other words, they are not yet eligible to play or practice, and they will not be participating when the Trojans’ fall training camp begins tomorrow.

Not too much should be read into this news: such problems are common (in fact, this can be considered a “good year” as only three players have eligibility problems heading into practice, with none of the three expected to make an impact this season), and there is no indication that any of the three will not be cleared eventually. The likely culprit is a paperwork delay. Once certification for any of these three players is received from the NCAA, he can begin practicing immediately.
