Romeo will bring out the stars, fans, and a good attitude

While the Galen Center may be losing some star power if OJ Mayo bolts for the NBA after one year, it will gain some in 2008 with the arrival of Romeo (Percy Miller Jr.), incoming point guard and son of rap mogul Master P, and a young media star in his own right.  Matthew Kredell of the LA Daily News reports that notable Romeo fans such as Michael Jordan, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z and Beyonce have pledged to come watch the young music/tv/movie star play since he committed to the team as a non-scholarship player.

His on-court skills and 5′10″ frame made him the star of his Beverly Hills High team, but whether his value to USC will be on the court in addition to a being magnet for young fans, fellow stars, and best friend and verbal commit Demar DeRozan (currently Rivals’ #4 overall player in the 2008 class) is yet to be determined. It seems like the young guard and future film major is coming with the right attitude, however:

I may not be the best going in but I’ll be the best coming out because of Tim Floyd, his mind-set and what he’s going to teach me…This is four years of my life that I want to go to school, be a regular student and a USC Trojan…I’m going to be dedicated to playing ball and being a full-time student.

Rapper’s delight: USC’s next crossover star could be Lil’ Romeo (LA Daily News)
