Scouting the Trojan freshmen (offense)
Rivals had football scout Lannie Julias provide an in-depth analysis of each of the incoming Trojan freshmen (and transfers) on offense. He also ranked the new players:
- Kris O’Dowd
- Mitch Mustain
- Joe McKnight
- Brandon Carswell
- Aaron Corp
- Marc Tyler
- Damian Williams
- Ronald Johnson
- Martin Coleman
- Jordan Campbell
- Broderick Green
- Michael Reardon
- Rhett Ellison
Of O’Dowd, Julias writes, “He is the star of this 2007 recruiting class. … I see him getting some quality minutes by October or at least some on the job training.”
It certainly says a lot about the caliber of players coming into the program that a potential superstar like Johnson is only 8th on his list. And it is intriguing to see Corp so high up. Julias calls the quarterback “one of the best multi-talented high school quarterbacks that I have ever seen.” Carswell is also unexpectedly high in the list; the scout categorizes him as “a productive, smooth and skilled player who I see in time as a big-time contributor to the Trojan machine.”
