Relieved Bing cut by Raiders, picked up by 49ers

The Oakland Raiders on Wednesday cut their 2006 4th round draft pick safety Darnell Bing because there was an excess of safties on the roster after Oakland signed three free agents. Yesterday, the San Francisco 49ers claimed Bing off waivers, and the hard hitting Trojan alum will compete for the Niners 4th safety spot when San Francisco’s camp starts Saturday.

Scott Wolf reports that, according Cal WR DeSean Jackson, Bing is relieved to have severed ties with Oakland:

‘I just talked to him and he figures it’s an obstacle he needs to overcome,” Jackson said. ‘But he wanted to get away from the Raiders since Day 1.’
