West coast bias? Media pick Trojans to win Pac-10
The USC Trojans are the unanimous pick of West Coast media members to win the Pac-10 conference, reports the Pac-10 this morning. It is the fifth consecutive year the Trojan football team has been predicted to finish first in the conference. The media have historically been correct just over half the time (24 of 46 years), but picking USC is good for them: they have been right the past seven years.
Here are the combined final point totals for the 39 media voters, who ranked teams from 1st (10 points) to 10th (1 point):
- USC (39): 390 points
- California: 323
- UCLA: 305
- Arizona State: 242
- Oregon State: 237
- Oregon: 226
- Arizona: 162
- Washington State: 115
- Washington: 98
- Stanford: 47
The release of the media poll results kicks off the Pac-10’s annual Media Day. We’ll have more coverage of the event later in the day. Remember, you can watch the proceedings live on the Pac-10 website.
