More Pac-10 Media Day coverage

    Eric Sondheimer’s article in the Los Angeles Times provides a good rundown on the status of each team.

      And in other Pac-10 news, commissioner Tom Hansen informed the Sporting News that if the BCS adopts a “plus-one” semi-playoff system in a few years as rumored, the Pac-10 conference would leave the BCS.

        1. Good for Hansen. The plus one would be just as potentially defective as the current system. Take 2004/2005. SC/OK/Auburn and Utah are undefeated, but they’d never play those four teams in a true “semifinal”, so even if there were a plus one, a strong non-BCS team like Utah that year or Boisie State last year would be screwed. They would have to set up the top 4 teams in a pre-bowls BCS order, pitting 1 vs. 4, 2 vs 3, but I can’t see the bowl comissioners doing that. My position is this: either stick with the current flawed system, go to an 8 team playoff, or drop the BCS altogether and go back to the tradional bowls.
