OJ Mayo, future multi-millionaire?

HoopsVibe.com has published an article speculating on the marketability of freshman guard OJ Mayo, noting that recent NBA draft pick Kevin Durant just signed a $60 million deal with Nike, and LeBron James secured $90 million from the shoe company before he was even drafted. Analysts are predicting similar numbers for Mayo, suggesting that he could command $10 million a year in a shoe contract, plus an additional $15 million in other endorsements. The article also reports that companies are already trying to stake out their positions in the Mayo franchise, with a possible bidding war between rival orange juice companies allegedly ongoing.

Of course, Mayo hasn’t actually played a game in college yet–let alone in the pros–and although one Reebok representative admires the guard’s charisma, some recent minor run-ins with the law and with referees may hurt Mayo’s endorsement prospects if such problems persist at USC.
