Pruitt gets first start in summer league

Boston Celtics draftee Gabe Pruitt was given his first start in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas yesterday, and turned in his best performance to date in a Celtics victory: 14 points, 3 assists and 3 steals. The Boston Herald reports that “Pruitt is looking increasingly comfortable” at the point guard position, but the second-round pick knows there is still a lot of adjusting to do:

“It’s a real up-tempo game. You’ve got to be quick. I’m still learning, but it is a big difference. You don’t get too many chances, and I wanted to set a good example.”

After four games played in the summer league, Pruitt is averaging 6.2 points in 20.2 minutes.
